Public Safety Alert ?Attempt Extortions
Peel ?Peel
Regional Police would like to warn members of the Asian business
community of extortion-style phone calls.
Since mid-April, Peel Police have received complaints from business
owners who have received telephone calls from unknown suspect(s). The
suspect(s) have called business owners and made demands for money.
These demands are followed-up with threats of violence to the victims or
their families, if the monies are not paid.
None
of the potential victims have been injured, nor has any money been given
out.
Police are asking that anyone who has experienced similar telephone
calls, or similar incidents, to contact Peel Regional Police, 12
Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at (905) 453-3311, extension

Citizens who receive these telephone calls are urged to record the phone
number of the suspect, if possible. If not, utilize *57 to have the
number recorded, make notes of the conversation and contact police as
soon as possible.
Anyone who may know the suspect(s), or those who have information in
relation to these incidents, can anonymously leave a tip by calling Peel
Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by visiting
